Haka Hotel
The building is primarily of a solid nature, concrete, steel and precast over 11 levels. There is no basement as such, but foundations involved piling between steel tie backs which hold the motorway retaining in place. An operation that wasn’t for the faint hearted involving hydro demolition, CCTV monitoring and emergency response requirements. The interiors are generally industrial chic, with exposed steel, unpainted concrete and exposed traydeck flooring. Bathrooms and kitchens continue the edgy inner city apartment feel with a number of small but unique design features created by the architect, interior designer and the client himself.
